I wasn't sure about this...well, people keep calling it a device. It's beyond anything I've ever seen, but then again the past week has been full of things I've never seen before. I guess that's just my lot in life.

I wouldn't have thought so either, and yet everyone seems to think it is. I wonder why. In any case, you should stay out of trouble. You're probably a couple years away from being an adventurer. Enjoy being young while you can.
